The grade of the event and some other information given by symbols in the key below. Meetings at Chapter in Market Street, Canton start at 8 pm and are marked with their own symbol.

Some evening events start from the steps of the National Museum of Wales in Cathays Park. These are marked simply as "meet Museum".

Cardiff Outdoor Group meets in a room in Chapter Arts Centre, Market Road, Canton, Cardiff on Tuesday evenings, especially during the Autumn and Winter. The icon on the right will indicate a meeting at Chapter. Meetings here start at 8pm. The room we use varies and is shown on the programme for each event. Media point and the Boardroom are upstairs. Market Place is in a different building. If in doubt, please ask at reception.

Please note that during building work at Chapter there may be a different entrance and we may be in some rooms not normally used.

Tuesday 2nd

Vale of Glamorgan Evening Walk o - 5 miles of easy walking along the cliffs with spectacular sea view, plus local nature reserve and around the lakes of a country park. Pub option after the walk.
Meet at front of Cosmeston Country Park Cafe ready to depart at 7pm.
Train leaves Cardiff Central Station 18.31pm arrives at Penarth 18.46pm. Pick up available from Penarth train station if you contact Tina in advance on 07540 959229 or by e-mail tina.day241@gmail.com.

Thursday 9th

Wenvoe Wander - A 3 mile (approx) gentle amble through the farmland on our doorstep.

Leave 6pm from Museum.
Contact Jane O on 07425 131017 for walk start point. Meet us afterwards in Walston Castle pub, Wenvoe - next door to Premier Inn for drinks.

Tuesday 16th

Iron Bridge Circular Evening Walk - a 3 mile heritage trail that follows the footsteps of the Morgan family who lived in the area in the 17th century. Some steep inclines but mostly easy walking. May be muddy if wet. Bring a torch.
Start from the Hollybush pub in Draethen at 7pm (finish approx.9.30pm).

Castleton Evening Walk - a 4 mile circular walk from the Coach & Horses Inn, Newport Road Castleton CF3 2UQ.
Meet there for 7pm start. Bring torch just in case.

City Walk - A circular walk to Llandaff Fields and Bute Park from Llandaff village and back.
Meet at 6.20pm in front of Llandaff Cathedral. Drinks/supper in Llandaff after the walk.

Tuesday 6th

Cardiff Canal Walk Short walk to include the canals of Cardiff from the Museum to the Wharf - if enough light onto the Bay and then catch the train back. Bring a torch.
Meet at the Museum at 6.30pm.

China Talk by Robert - China is a surprising place - so many contrasts, so much change, so very different. The talk will provide some insights on three different places in China - Beijing, Cheng Du, and Xian

Tuesday 4th

London to Paris Cycle Challenge - Talk by Jinny Santavy who is undertaking this trip on behalf of British Heart Foundation (50th anniversary this year). Donations welcomed at http://original.justgiving.com/jinnysantavy.
Meet 8pm at Chapter - Media Point.

Thursday 13th

Meal at Canteen on Clifton Street - this place is run by a fellow walker and focuses on vegetarian dishes with one main course meat option. Menu also includes vegan and coeliac options. Menu changes every few weeks but current offerings can be seen on www.canteenoncliftonstreet.com. Reasonable prices (3 courses for £14.50) and the food is great.

Social Pub Night
Meet at the Maltsters Pub, Llandaff from 8pm onwards for a drink and a chat.

Tuesday 1st Nov - COG AGM 2011- Seems a long way off now but with a number of long standing committee members standing down this time, we need to start thinking about who will replace us and yes I'm one of those standing down so the post of chair will need to be filled. If interested please talk to a Committee member who will be delighted to fill you in. Fri 25th - 27th Nov - Manchester weekend - Join us in this city centre hostel at bargain rate of £16.95 per night for half board (less than usual rate for B&B). Travel by public transport - train or bus. Lots to see and do incl. canal walks, industrial heritage, art galleries or just spend the time in one of the many real ale pubs.
